Lipstick is a fashion accessory that some women just can’t do without. Lipstick has been the one cosmetic staple that most women have relied on.

It’s not uncommon for a woman to put on lipstick before anything else and in the case of being in a hurry many women forego mascara or blush and reach for their lipstick.

Although the term “lipstick” clearly means a cosmetic that is applied to the lips, there are several different types of lipsticks available for purchase. Each woman has her own unique preference when it comes to the different types of lipsticks and which one suits her best.

One common ingredient found in many different types of lipsticks is a moisturizer. This is important because lips can often become dried out because of the weather or the lack of humidity in a building. Incorporating a moistening agent into lipstick allows the woman to wear it all day without worry that her lips will become dry or chapped.

Another important ingredient in many different types of lipsticks is sunscreen. As much damage as the sun’s rays can cause to skin they can cause just as much damage to lips. Therefore it’s very important when browsing the cosmetics aisle to choose lipstick that has a sun screen in it. It doesn’t change the appearance or feel of the lipstick at all.

All of the different types of lipsticks come in many assorted colors. Some women love a bold look and for them a bright or dark red is a good choice. For other women they are looking for lipstick that is more demure. In this case they’ll want to concentrate on a lipstick that is a pale shade, perhaps pink or coral.

You can also change your shade of lipstick depending on the event or your mood. If you are attending a gala dinner you’ll want to choose a more striking lipstick that complements your outfit choice. If you are heading to the beach for a day of rest and relaxation a more subtle shade of lipstick would be most appropriate.

Although it seems that the color choice in lipstick is unending, there are also just as many brands of lipstick to choose from.

Cosmetic companies recognize the importance of lipstick in their customer’s lives. They want to improve their lipstick products so that they are longer lasting and the colors stay more vibrant.

There are several lipstick brands that now offer all day wear. This means that the woman applies the lipstick once in the morning and it is intended to stay fresh throughout the day. Many of these types of lipstick claim that the product wouldn’t smudge off even if the woman is drinking or eating.

For a very busy woman who enjoys looking her best this type of lipstick can be perfect. She chooses the shade that best matches her look for the day. She applies it before leaving home and can work all day without worrying about reapplication.

Purchasing lipstick is as easy as visiting your local cosmetics counter. In most major department stores the cosmetic counter is staffed with a beauty specialist. This person will be able to help you when you are buying lipstick.

Quite often they have training in cosmetology and understand what shades of lipstick complement what skin tones the best. They’ll choose a few lipsticks for you to consider. In most stores there are lipstick testers which allow the customer the chance to apply a small dab of lipstick on their wrist to check for color.

Lipstick is fun to wear and it can brighten up a woman’s mood instantly. When choosing lipstick it’s wise to pick a few different shades that reflect your different moods.

The new line of organic cosmetics set apart the harmful elements found in traditional ingredients of cosmetics. Find out the benefits of these organic cosmetics in health and beauty.

Awareness has been the newest trend in the growing population today, health awareness, to be exact. More and more people have been raving for organically made products. In with the new and out with the old, as they say. In this instance, organic products are now the newest players in marketing and synthetic products are the old.

The response for the demand has been amazing. Among the following products that have responded to the call are organic vegetables and fruits, organic snacks, even organic fuel! To address the biggest chunk in marketing – women; cosmetics company have begun to drift to producing organically-made cosmetics, as well.

This new line of organic make-up does not compromise your health and your appearance, at the same time. Many people do not know that much of the organic compounds and produce grown in our world have their own benefits they can contribute to cosmetics. Not only can they give the same variety of colors many women seek for, they can also give synthetic cosmetics a run for their money. Many organic produce and compounds used in cosmetics can still offer the moisture in your lipsticks, they can give the necessary vitamins beneficial to the skin, and they can give the shine, luster, or matte finish that you prefer to stand out in the crowd! These organic materials can also play with colors and so you don’t feel that your choices are limited. Most importantly, they don’t give the immediate effects of harming your skin, and the chronic effects of skin damage in the future.

Many women have grown to like organic cosmetics more these days because of the much disseminated information that there are certain synthetic or man-made ingredients in the cosmetics of the past that are considered carcinogens. These carcinogens, when used repeatedly can have a cumulative effect and the longer you’ve been using these products, the higher your chances of cancer or any other skin diseases.

There is good news, however. It is not too late to reverse the effects of the cosmetics you used to apply in the past. Organic make-up has great compounds that have ant oxidative properties. We all know that antioxidants deter the development of cancer. Antioxidants that can be found in organic make-up prevent the process of oxidation that causes the rapid destruction of cells. With these antioxidants in organic make-ups now you won’t have to worry about carcinogens, and aside from lessening those worry lines you also get a much healthier skin.

Now, how exactly can organic cosmetics be beneficial to your skin? The biggest benefit organic cosmetics can give you are its antioxidant properties that deter the development of cancer, skin cancer being the most common. The vitamins and minerals that are already contained in organic products benefit women excessively in terms of good skin care.

Organic cosmetics are hypoallergenic and thus women who are worried of break-outs and skin irritation, this is a wiser and more affordable product for them. No need to spend more money on antihistamines to cure those allergy fits. Yet another way organic make-up can be beneficial is their ability, rather their inability to clog pores. Clogged pores brought about usually by oil-based cosmetics are the common complaints of women because clogged pores can be ghastly and can lead to the development of blackheads, pimples, or acne. In a world where appearances are everything, women have become pickier in choosing which make-up works for them.

Organic make-up is more affordable compared to well-known and much more established synthetic make-up, another benefit most women enjoy. As more and more products are becoming more on the higher end, their prices have also been increasing. Organic make-up offers you more benefits for a lesser price this is because production costs are cheaper since products the products are readily accessible. Perhaps the most significant of all benefits organic make-up can offer is that it is environmentally friendly. Since it makes use of organic compounds and earth grown fruits and vegetables, the waste products that may be incurred through production are not only hazardous to the environment but can still be recycled. No animals need to be harmed and no essential natural resources need to be depleted in the making of organic cosmetics.

Organic cosmetics are right for those who are not only health conscious but who are environmentally aware, as well. Since the environment has been growing from worse to worst, joining the force to keep this from happening can be the best contribution you can ever repay the world that has given you life. The organic movement, organic cosmetics included, has heeded this call. It does not only benefit the consumers that it targets, it is also aware of the much needed repair the damaged earth has incurred.

Choose to stay beautifully healthy inside, as well as outside and organic make-up can help you achieve this. Live in a more beautiful world by buying organic cosmetics.

Eyes occupy the most prominent place among the five sensory organs of our body. Large and beautiful eyes enhance one’s beauty manifold. Healthy eyes are directly related to general health. Use eye-make up very sparingly, for its excessive use damages the skin around eye. Also, remember never to use chemical eye-make-up-remover because it reacts adversely on the skin. Applying smoky eyes makeup can make you the most attractive and beautiful woman. It is a good choice for drawing attention, also.

A very important thing to take into account is the eye shadow color. Being very careful, smoky eyes are not so difficult to obtain. An advantage of this kind of makeup is that it fits any face type. Start applying the smoky eyes makeup, First, apply a perfect eyeliner and the base eye shadow over the upper lid, blending with a base brush. The next step is to apply a clean color over the eye, from eyelid to brow.

Eye makeup is the fun part of applying cosmetics. Some simple eye makeup tips. Use eye shadows that fit the character or to express mood. Apply the lightest shade you have over the entire eyelid and the medium shade on the lower eyelid. It’s time to apply dark colors for creating depth. Best place for doing that is the outer corner. Next, apply a little eyeliner, from the center of the eye to the corners. Finally, apply mascara. For dark eyes, black or dark brown is recommended. A dark brown eye shadow should be applied from the lid to crease, for a better effect. In the final, apply two layers of black mascara and work a little on your eyebrows for a strong smoky eyes makeup.

Various Types of Eye Makeup

Small eyes-Use a light shade of powder for the center of the lid and a darker shade in the outer edge.

Almond-shaped eyes Use a light shade of powder from your lashes to the brow, a medium shade on your lid, and a darker shade on the outer third of your eyelid.

Round eyes-Use light colored shadow over the entire lid and a darker shade in the crease. Apply eyeliner on both the top and bottom lids, and use mascara on the upper outer lashes.

Wide-set eyes-Use a darker shade in the inner corner, blending up and out. Concentrate eyeliner and mascara on the inner corner of the eye.

Close-set eyes-Use one color, varying from a light to darker shade. Start with the lightest shade one-third away from the inner corner of your eye, blending darker shades up and out. Use eyeliner on the outer half of your eye.

Deep-set eyes-Use eyeliner on both the upper and lower lids, remembering to smudge and soften the line.

Eye Makeup Tips

1. Apply the lightest shade over the entire eyelid.

2. Apply the medium shade on the lower eyelid.

3. Apply the darkest shade in the outer corner of the eye to create depth.

4. Apply eyeliner with short strokes, starting form.

5. The center of the eye and working towards the corners.

6. Mascara finishes your makeup.

7. Do not wear bold eye makeup and a bold lipstick at the same time.

8. Try not to be too dramatic but there is a secret seldom revealed.

Follow these helpful tips to greatly improve your makeup experience.

Gone are the days when women stuck to one color blusher usually pinks or peaches. Now days, blushers come in a whole new variety of colors and different formulations. There are vast array of clever new formulas. The main choices are traditional powder, a cream texture, a modern liquid or a gel finish. So there is certainly one out there to suit your skin type.

Powder blush is the easiest to use. If you prefer this type, choose one that isn’t too sparkly or it’ll enhance your wrinkles. Shimmery blushers are far kinder to mature skin as they diffuse fine lines, making the delicate skin around your cheeks look younger. And as your skin feels drier as you get older, you could also try moisturizing cream formula that gives a flattering sheen to your skin.

All Skin Types

Right type: LIQUID CHEEK STAINS
Reason: They’re excellent for all skin types and face shapes, as you can use a little to achieve a natural flush of color, or layer to build up the shading to an intense hue that will last all through the day.

How to apply: They work best on bare cheeks and need to be applied quickly to avoid mistakes. Apply powder blusher over cheek stains for ultimate staying powder.

Dry or Combination Skin

Right type: CREAM
Reason: Cream blusher is the best if you have dry to combination skin as there’s no powder to sit on your dry patches. Also, the texture helps your skin maintain a natural , luminous glow.
How to apply: It’s easy to apply on bare skin or over foundation. If you have a round face don’t shade apples of your cheek instead apply it on your cheekbones, slanting towards your temples.

Oily Skin

Right type: POWDER
Reason: It’s classic, and perfect for achieving dense color coverage. It’s the best texture for contouring your cheekbones, and is ideal for oily skin as it lies well on your skin’s surface and reduces shine.

How to apply: Sweep on to your cheeks in a croissant shape for a natural – looking flush.

Mature Skin

Right type: GEL OR MOUSSE
Reason: Mousse and gel formulas are great for mature skins and if you want a subtle result. They can be worn alone on bare skin or layered over foundation, before powder, and are less fiddy to use than liquid stains. All mousse formulas offer pretty velvety finish and are really smooth to apply.

How to apply: When putting on gel or mousse blusher, tap it gently on to your cheeks and blend upwards and outwards with your fingertips. But don’t apply it on top of your make- up as you will not be able to blend it.

As we become more aware of our environment and more aware of the products that we are putting into and onto our bodies, natural and homeopathic products are taking the cosmetic industry by storm.

It’s likely you’ve noticed new skincare and cosmetic companies popping up with ‘all natural’ and ‘organic’ products. Of course, just because they say they are, does not necessarily make it true. That is where consumer education comes in, and why it is so important.

The title of this article is ‘Mineral Makeup’. After learning what mineral makeup is, what products go into it, and what its benefits are, you can decide if this is the right choice for you.

What Is Mineral Makeup?

Mineral makeup is designed from all naturally occurring products. It is often recommended by dermatologists to women with sensitive skin, rosacea, post operative, laser and other procedures because of its intrinsic skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a powder makeup of finely milled minerals. It can provide very sheer or very opaque coverage, depending on the formulation and application. However, it still allows natural skin radiance to show through, so you don’t get the dreaded ‘mask’ look. It is typically free of fragrance and preservatives. Minerals cannot feed bacteria, so there is no danger of spoilage, thus it needs no preservatives. It does not go bad. It is very good for oily skin because it has several oil- absorbing components.

It is usually applied with a brush, and is typically shown to be ‘buffed’ into the skin. This technique forces the makeup into your pores, which is never a good thing. A technique that works with better quality mineral makeup (which we’ll discuss later) is to ‘dust” the makeup on, instead of ‘buffing’ it. If a brush irritates your skin, you can also use a non-latex or flocked sponge. Application can be done either wet or dry.

What Are The Ingredients?

This is the most important part. Learning what is in your makeup will give you the ability to choose what will meet your needs best. These are the ingredients you will most likely come across.

• Titanium Dioxide- A white natural sunscreen and anti-inflammatory agent. It is highly reflect, with only a diamond being higher, and thus minimizes fine lines and some skin discolorations.

• Zinc Oxide- A natural sunscreen providing broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

• Sericite- A colorless mica that can be used to cut the opacity of Titanium Dioxide and also works as an oil absorber.

• Cornstarch/ Rice Powder- Cosmetic grade- An oil humectant (draws oil out of the pores). Can make acne worse as it is a source of food for bacteria.

• Kaolin Clay- Natural oil-absorption.

• Mica- Natural ‘glitter’. Provides shimmer and sparkle.

• Iron Oxides- Natural pigment- very opaque. Used for tinting cosmetics.

Ingredients To Avoid

These ingredients are also common, but can cause problems so are best to avoid.

• Talc/ Various Powders- Common fillers- can cause respiratory problems.

• FD&C Dyes- Derived from coal tar.

• Bismuth Oxychloride- Known skin irritant- causes itching, rashes and breakouts. Especially prevalent when the wearer sweats.

• Ferric Ferrocyanide- Controversial because of its suspected toxicity.

• Carmine- Crushed beetles.

What Brand Should I Buy?

Well, if you’re familiar with mineral makeup, it’s likely you’ve seen the infomercials. After further research you’ll find these companies use controversial ingredients, and charge quite a bit for their products.

There are several good mineral makeup companies out there that provide a much better product at a more affordable price, as well as a superior customer experience. They also offer samples, which the larger companies do not. You will get to try the makeup (unlike in the drugstore!) for a fraction of the cost before you buy it. They do not have expensive advertising and packaging to pay for, so the savings are often passed on to you.

Your face is priceless. This might be a mundane and oft-repeated statement, nonetheless, very true. It’s how you take care of your face that dictates its value and people’s perception towards you. A good face does not necessarily mean a beautiful face. There are various facets that make for a good and acceptable face, and here we talk about one of them.

Choosing the right cosmetics for your face is the one thing that is of seminal importance as far as the upkeep of your face is concerned. There are various factors that must be considered before you choose a particular cosmetic. Some of these factors or parameters are centered on the overall beauty effect, while other factors deal with the inherent content of the cosmetic.

Trial and error

For many people, the concept of choosing the right cosmetic for their face is based on a method of trial and error. The face is used like a laboratory, on which various tests are conducted.

As can be imagined, this is not the right way to choose, a product for your face. By the time, you end-up choosing the right one; your face might show all evidence of being harshly used.

Choosing the right cosmetic for your face

The cosmetics that you select and pick for use on your face must match the tone of your skin and must go a long way in complementing it. For e.g. if you have a skin tone that is olive or chocolaty, then a darker foundation can be the best choice for you.

On the other hand if you have a fair skin, then you must go for makeup that has a lighter foundation meaning lighter tones. Such makeup will enhance your features and not wash them out or overpower them.

Don’t make price the issue

We have already talked about the importance of your face, and you know it better than us. Good make up can be quite an expensive buy, and in terms of cosmetics, quality is directly proportional to an increase in its price.

Many a times, people warn you with the fact that a high price of a particular item does not guarantee good quality, but this fact does not hold true for cosmetics. Saving money on your cosmetics might mean putting the complexion, texture, and the whole nature of your face in jeopardy.

It’s an undeniable fact that cheap make-up looks cheap. If you are looking to save money in this case, then hunt through various departmental stores, which might just offer you some great deals with regards to cosmetics.

With respect to skin type

People have different types of skin. Some have dry skin; others have normal skin, while there are still others who have oily skin. Do not use cosmetics that are only meant for oil skin, on a dry skin type. That would mean trouble in terms of skin irritation or allergies.

Harmony of colors

Color harmony, refers to the coordination of the colors of the cosmetic, with the color of your skin, and overall producing a well coordinated and acceptable effect. The cosmetic must enhance the natural color of the skin and must blend in with hair color, eye color, and of course, the skin color.

Personal taste

The cosmetics that you use must be a reflection of your own personality and not somebody else’s. This is because not all cosmetics and their type of use, suit each and every person.

Some people look good, if their face is heavily made-up, while others look downright ugly, if there face is heavily plastered with cosmetics. For many people a ‘simple made-up’ natural look works best rather that an overt sense of having used cosmetics.

The ingredients

Many cosmetics use various ingredients that might adversely affect the state of your skin and your overall health. Such ingredients are very often animal derivatives, microbes, even petroleum by-products.

Their usage leads to conditions like allergy, dermatitis etc. Before you choose a cosmetic, read all that it contains, however, most of the time, you are unaware of the adverse effects of the ingredients mentioned on the pack.

Therefore, it’s important that you concentrate on cosmetics that have been made from natural or organic alternatives. The only drawback in this case, is the cost. They are quite prohibitive in terms of price, but well worth it.

Research

It’s easy to go into a shop and select from the cosmetics on display. Yes, if you have a clear idea about its benefits and know that it’s the right choice, then well and good. However, it would be a good idea to do some reading, and get some information from various sources, about the feasibility of using a particular cosmetic. Get a fair idea about the good brands from people around you and make your selection, only after carefully scrutinizing all the available products.

These are just a few tips and considerations, which you must think about before buying the right cosmetics for your face. But, they will definitely make your job a little easier.

You simply have to get mineral makeup such as ColorScience or other cosmetics which do not contain talc. Heidi Schulze, who is a makeup artist at the Michael Kemper Salon, says that melting makeup is something her clients often complain about, and she invariably suggests ColorScience products to them. These products are sold at the salon as their finish is not like a mask and it is also water-resistant. ColorScience makeup lasts for about ten hours.

Schulze also says that an oil-free tinted moisturizer for color will also double as sunscreen. Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer (available at Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom) is a favorite of several makeup artists, as are tinted moisturizers by Murad (available at Michael Kemper Salon) and Trish McEvoy (available at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue). Cheeks tend to look pink in summer anyway due to the heat, but Schulze says that using a light gel brush will provide a slight color. Tart and Benefit are sold at Sephora and they are not greasy, but provide a flushed look. Mineral makeup is a great alternative if you are wearing blush.

You should remember that lips need protection from the sun too. It is best to apply a moisturizing lip balm and then to apply gloss on that. There are plenty of options available, and you can select the ones you like best.
Mineral makeup is natural and it is certainly the best makeup you can use in summer. It became a rage in Hollywood and the rest of the US a few years ago, but a lot of women still do not understand how wonderful mineral makeup is for summer months. Mineral makeup is made from natural ingredients, the two main ones being zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

Titanium dioxide is a waterproof, light mineral which is ground into a very fine powder and is the principal ingredient in the makeup. As it lies lightly on the skin, its tiny plates cover the pores of the skin and protect them from bacteria-feeding moisture. This is the reason dermatologists all over the world call mineral makeup ‘acne fighting makeup’. Titanium dioxide is also not absorbable in water, and it can thus be applied when going to the pool or beach because it is waterproof and will maintain the flawless complexion. You will be able to swim and play at the beach while maintaining the finished look the makeup had when you first put it on in the morning.
Mineral makeup will not run down your face when you sweat because it is waterproof and will not be absorbed by the sweat on your face. This makes it perfect for many summer sports such as horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, etc.
Zinc oxide, which is the other main ingredient of mineral makeup, is a natural sunscreen which is used in sun protections products all over the world. Thus, zinc oxide makes mineral makeup the perfect sunscreen, and the SPF is 25. You can wear extra sunscreen under the makeup for additional sun protection in summer.

Mineral makeup will not harm your skin if you keep it on for a long time, and you can even leave it on overnight if you have a busy morning ahead of you. Using mineral makeup will make your skin healthier.
Thus, in a nutshell, mineral makeup is a natural way to fight acne, protect your skin from the sun, and have great looking skin, and it is also waterproof which makes it excellent for summer sports.
